Starting mongodb during PHP application run time
I have a php application which includes a mongo driver ( but can't for the life of me figure out how to have it load with the application (which is run from the command line).
The application makes use of mongo without complaint so I assume that it's loading the driver properly, but is there a reason why the application shouldn't just start it at its own point in the boot process?
When I run php -m I can see the mongo driver listed as a loaded extension, but when I run the application, I get an error:
Mongo::__construct() [phing/Mongo-Stream.php]: Failed opening required'mongodb://localhost:27017/mydatabase' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php')
The application is started via a docker container and as such no init process is called.

When you start your application, just start up your mongo server as a daemon and then make sure that your PHP process is also a daemon. That way you can easily pick up the mongo process and attach it to your PHP process if they are separate from each other. You can also run your mongo server on a host machine and connect to it from your PHP server using the mongo commands (see example here)
